I get a phone call saying that I had been selected for an interview by the government because of my academic successes, which was very nonspecific. They wanted to meet w/ me in Colorado. I told them I was busy, but I could speak w/ someone today if they wanted to video conference. they told me to be ready that afternoon and such and such o'clock.

i show up at some hotel room w/ a camera and a TV. Guess who is asking me questions - President Bush himself at some education conference in Colorado. He congratulated me on my fine GPA and told me that I had just missed some good sized tax credit by a very small margin (half a letter grade). Unofortantely his administration had cut that program when he took office and I was one of the people that narrowly missed because of that.

I cracked a joke about it, saying I had been forced to slum aound a strip club or the like to get over the pain of missing out. We laughed... I bit my tounge to start taking the opportunity to bring up my anti-bush politics by bringing up the environment. he asked me several more basic questions, I told him that Austin was doing well, and then he said that he liked me and wished me to attend a leadership conference if I could make it. I asked him to have someone find out if there were any in the Austin area in the near future and get back to me. Then the interview ended; having had a peaceful meeting w/ the president of the free world and seemingly getting on his good side!
